I have not published a post since February. Have you missed me? For 7 month, I’ve neglected my site, and not only that, I have stayed out of the kitchen, too. Its crazy how life can get away from you; weeks turn into months. I was even afraid to look at this site because I was ashamed that I had allowed myself to go so long without putting a post together. Pumpernickel Rye Rolls

It's time for bread week!  This is one of the series of challenges that I have been looking forward to as a true and ferocious lover of bread.  Bread: the carb to end all carbs and one I want to indulge in all day everyday.  Plus, I'm sick of drooling over all those bread-makers I follow on Instagram and I'm ready to make my own drool-worthy, gluten-stuffed concoctions.  Gluten.  Ahhh, yes.  Warning: gluten happening.

Sweet Tea Shortbread

Here we go!  My second ever Showstopper Challenge!  The bakers were required to create a 3 dimensional biscuit scene with one requirement: the biscuits must stand up.  Paul gave some good advice explaining that with this requirement then, you must choose a biscuit recipe that is rigid, yet must taste good.  Mary continued by emphasizing that Paul and she are looking for every element to be homemade which, is a comment that will carry some weight in this challenge.

Florentines

Another Technical Challenge looms and a mix of reactions are heard throughout the tent as Sue proclaims that 18 Florentines will be required.  The recipe is one of Mary Berry's and they look rather divine if I must say.  A Florentine is a sweet biscuit packed with dried fruit and nuts, slathered on one side in chocolate, and as Mary herself puts it, "are really tricky to make."  But of course they are, Mary.

Farthing Biscuits

You can read all about my cake week shenanigans herehere, and here, but that is all safely in the past.  Biscuit week is officially upon us!  Now, I hear biscuit and my Southern brain immediately thinks of the fluffy, buttery, lumps of goodness that every true Southerner supposedly has a recipe saved up in their back pocket.  I love a good biscuit, but I don’t have a family recipe I can make with my eyes closed, but a Bisquick drop biscuitwill turn me on any day.
